Playing the Part: Edwardian Apron

You may have heard that my new responsibility in church is Nursery Leader. There are 17 kids between the ages of 18 months and 3 years old on the roster. SEVENTEEN! And as you all know, with kids that age it's easier to be barefoot (vs. wearing heals) and down on the floor most of the time. But this is church; which means I'll be on the floor in a skirt and that is somewhat problematic. I'm not about to go buy all new outfits that will work.

So using some muslin I had hanging around there was just enough to put this together. Complete with zippered pockets, an adjusted higher neckline, and a lengthy apron...I am very pleased. Bring on those sticky fingered, runny nosed rascals.

I found these cute buttons at the store and decided I wanted pockets to match. I am so happy for seersucker fabric! (And yay for 8th grade Home Ec. that taught me how to put a zipper in, and yay for roommates who bought the sewing machine for me in the first place—what a blessing it has been!)

I don't care if it's nerdy or seems "Mormony"—I've already used it and it certainly does the job.

In the 13th century, poor quality fabric from Silesia went by the trade name "Sleazy Holland." Anything inferior came to be called "sleazy."
