Free Tickets

Yesterday Adam received free tickets (through work) to a Dallas Stars hockey game. Wahoo! Hockey is fun to watch in person, so off we went. We took the train into Dallas and arrived directly in front of the American Airlines Center.

And found our places . . . "Hello from our seats!"
We sang the star spangled banner . . . at which point whenever the word "star" came up, the crowd shouted it like kids with the sunbeam song. "Ohhhhh, say does that STAR! spangled banner . . ."

We were accompanied by two large balloons-remote driven, which dropped coupons for free food. Sadly, they ignored our section.

Then the players entered—ooohhh the drama, and theatrics, and the awesome base of the sound system. And it began! Of course guys got plastered against the wall—often. Ouch. One got bashed in the face—blood everywhere. Another got bashed in the head, blood everywhere. And several fights broke out. Several.

Okay. So I am against hurting another human being—but some of the fights were funny—and well timed. We had fun, and probably won't pass up free tickets if they become available again.

Less Than

We're moving again. Last week was full of anxiety as we searched, signed, changed our minds, canceled, and signed again. Whoops. More money down the drain. But a lesson was learned.

The first place we looked at was nice. Really nice and it was a steal. But I was upset and my eyes started to water. "Was it allergies?" wondered the manager. "No. I am upset, I don't know why. I must not be looking forward to the move." We signed. That night neither one of us slept well. Even Adam who loved the apartment.

The next day a friend called. "Move here," she said. " be our neighbor!" Another great deal. Another manger letting us in to see an apartment. This time, excitement sat in my gut. This was it. This was the place. It fit us, fit our stuff. We had been trying to make the first place work with us and our stuff. Can't really do that with immovable walls. . . .

Cancellation of paper work, signing more papers, working out legal problems and fees with our current residence. Finally it's over. Out April 30th.

I stare at our stuff, dreading the move. And yet, I laugh because we're moving less than a block away.

Quintipus Discount

I've been working on a new doll, the Quintipus. The one you see below is a prototype so it isn't perfect—I don't recommend it for infants or toddlers. But if any you want it for your own hugging pleasure, respond to this post (first response gets it). It will be $9.80, which includes shipping. I'll reserve it, and you'll be able to purchase it at Minelolly.

6.5 inches x 13 inches (from head to toe)
