Anniversary (17th) at the Pittman Hotel and Rye Restaurant

The Kimpton Pittman Hotel in Dallas is an historic 4-star boutique property located in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. Originally designed in 1916 by prominent, and first African-American architect in Texas, William Sidney Pittman.

Adam wanted to stay somewhere nice for our 17th anniversary 2023. And it was! Sadly we couldn't take full advantage of it, the weather was drizzly, and Adam had "issues" which I will delineate shortly.

After check-in we showed for our reservation at Rye just a small walk away. (Seriously, follow the link, their food photography will make you need a reservation too.)
 

We opted for the Chef's choice, a several course meal, which allowed for the chef to try some experimental dishes. Each serving was roughly two bites per person. Perfectly reasonable. Adam also got a very expensive mocktail, which he ordered TWO of, and was quite pleased with, even though my eye was twitching at him.

The dish below was a little weird. Probably the only one we didn't like much as it resembled the mouth-feel of a soggy burrito. 

Did you COUNT how many courses that was?!? TEN. TEN courses. The walk back to the hotel wasn't long enough to help digestion. Adam passed out on the corner of the bed groaning that he couldn't move, else everything would come back up. And THAT was the end of our evening in a nice hotel in Deep Ellum, Texas for our 17th anniversary.
