Here is a video of a few other things we did while we were home for the summer. Including a golf day with Adam, Michael and Dad. They enjoyed their time together. I'm so glad!

Garden Inspiration
There's a nursery I hadn't heard of before, Green Acres, which Dad encouraged Adam and me to visit down the hill. I'm glad we did, it's a HUGE nursery and I enjoyed it. Then later we visited a local demonstration garden—right up the road from where my parents live behind the tiny community college off-shoot. What a surprise, and it too was lovely and inspiring. Meeting Baby Irie
Aren’t babies the best? They’re sweet, cuddly, soft, and when they’re small they don’t care who you are—they let you hold them and give you a smile if you’re willing to be a little silly. The reason for our trip to California in June was to meet Michael and Hayden’s daughter, Irie. We snuggled her every single night and it was wonderful.
One evening there was a discussion over how much Irie looks like baby Anna. So Mom pulled out the photo albums.
Baby Anna.
Baby Irie. I admit, we do look like we’re family! She’s my chin twin.
Baths in the sink are always a good time. Girl, you gave my arm a workout!
And of course it's always special to see how my parents love and enjoy their grandchildren. While in town Hayden had requested we do a little photo session with Irie. She brought a few outfits and we spent the afternoon learning what it’s like to take pictures of a baby—not easy. We got some mandatory close up shots of fingers, toes and belly buttons. And enjoyed all the little faces she put on show for us.

Short Tahoe Adventure
While visiting Mom and Dad’s we decided to take the beautiful drive to Tahoe. It’s only about 60 miles from home. I don’t know why Adam and I haven’t been more frequently. Last time we visited it was on our honeymoon!
Above: The view of Tahoe from the summit on Hwy 50. I’ve always loved this part of the drive.
I would totally do the bike thing again...and be better about slathering the sunscreen on.

(Adam said they were one of the cheapest he could find.) It was a good location to rent from as well. They are very close to a popular spot on the lake. (Image from Google.)
They gave us a map and off we went—shakily though since it’s been a while.
Battery assist is AMAZING! You still pedal but the battery does all the pushing—so you don’t have to exert yourself AT ALL.
We rode through neighborhoods and on bike paths, past Camp Richardson on the Pope Bike path and then all the way back again, past the bike shop and into town right up to the state line. We figure we went about 10 miles round trip—my bum did not disagree.

After returning the bikes, we hopped in the car and found a place to lunch:
The Bistro at Edgewood
WHOA! Friends, we didn’t realize Edgewood was a resort (a VERY EXPENSIVE one.) We ALMOST felt like imposters in our sweaty bike adventure clothes. But in the end, who cares?!? Adam told his coworkers they need to play golf there. The course is lovely as are the grounds and amenities.
The food was delicious. And they seated us outside on the patio where we enjoyed the view and the cool weather. (The breakfast menu looks even better.)
Above: Crab cake to share.
Above: Cuban Sandwich for Anna (with bacon and pulled pork, it was very good...and YES, I’m eating normally again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Above: Flat bread for Adam
Below: Later, the view of Tahoe from the plane back to Texas. Until next time!!!
