Houston Cleanup

After Harvey hit Houston last summer, so many homes were destroyed and families affected. I think those of us close to Houston wanted to help—to immediately drive down and offer assistance. However, we were told to wait. The relief efforts had to be organized or we would be in the way. When the call finally came out, I was out of town but Adam was available and so loaded up his tools and accompanied a shift of "The Mormon Helping Hands" to assist in the cleanup efforts.
In the area where Adam's group was assigned, the homes were destroyed from the waist down. Mold had set in and not much was salvageable. Above is a room with the line drawn on the walls and everything below it had to be removed.

Below is an after photo of the same room in the first photo.
Below was a kitchen.
Below, a garage.
Before demolition, the teams moved all furniture and destroyed belongings out to the street. Adam said it was like moving day times ten, it was hard, dirty, and smelly work. His shift was away working for three days.

I'm happy to belong to the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and glad we can be counted on in disaster relief efforts all over the world. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and love our neighbors.
