Tulipalooza Date With Friends

It’s tulip time! These lovely ladies bloom for about two weeks and then they’re done. Tulipalooza is hosted by the Poston Gardens, a charity organization, that allows the public to roam one of their fields, take pictures and PICK flowers to take home! (For a charitable donation of course.)
We must have arrived a little too early, because the “Fun” part was lacking. (We were promised food trucks and live music but the vendors and musicians must have slept in, or perhaps they missed the time change last week.)
My mother would have loved the "Negrita Purple" tulips. They were deep in coloring and she enjoys purple. Quite lovely. I would have brought some home but they were nearly spent.
I did however pluck up several of these orange and black tulips (name unknown) in bud form. They’re in a vase and when they open, I’ll take some snapshots. (That’s the trick by-the-way, pick flowers just before they open and they’ll last longer.) Unfortunately, most in these fields were already fully open or had dropped their petals.
The flowers above, are also unknown to me, but they are frilly and very short. I took one little treasure home to coax into a full bloomed beauty as well.
The yellow was striking, and aptly named “Strong Gold Yellow."

Marlex came with us, it was so good to get out and spend time with friends! Marla picked a few of each bloom and they look quite lovely in her vase. (Tap on the image above to see a quick video pan over the tulip fields.)
Afterward, we strolled downtown Waxahachie, found a candy store, bought some goods, wandered a vintage store, and they ate some delicious smelling BBQ. (There was no gingerbread to be found, but perhaps that line in the mural refers to the absolutely ADORABLE old gingerbread houses in town.) We then took the scenic road home. What a lovely, lovely afternoon.
