Wet Weekend

Last week we endured a series of storms, the final one just missing us Friday night. Now, if there's one thing I can say Texas is good for, it would be the storms. They are fantastic and frightening.

Friday as we watched a Fort Worth Cat's game with our friends—lightning branched across the sky. And as the sun set the light changed from minute to minute. I couldn't bring myself to watch the game . . . but I am told it was fantastic.

Saturday we'd planned and prepared for a float down the river. Well. . . let's just say it didn't work out as planned. Around 4p.m. we pulled into our "plan C"—a boat marina—and were grateful for a small, blocked off area open to the public. Off we went.

If you are looking for cheap floating tubes, these are awesome (Walmart, River Rat $10 bucks). They are pretty big and come with a rope. We were able to tie everyone's tubes together, then tie ourselves to a buoy and float for the rest of the evening. Very relaxing. And we now resemble lobsters.
